Before we get to that, I’d like to take a look back at a few of my favorite moments from 2013, highlighting some pretty major accomplishments:

Future Happenings

wpid-IMG_20131122_152547.jpgPerhaps the most exciting adventure this year has been auditioning for The Taste on ABC in L.A., Calif. Premiering on Jan. 2, 2014 at 8 p.m., the cooking competition reality show is sure to be entertaining. I hope you’ll tune in to see how my Hollywood experience plays out!

Thank You
Since its inception in Nov. 2011, Some Kinda Good has reached nearly 37,000 hits. Though it’s a lot of hard work, blogging has proved to be a wonderful, creative outlet and platform for me. My success wouldn’t be possible without you, and my dishes wouldn’t be as delicious without Georgia Farmers! I sincerely thank you, my blog followers, for reading and sharing my little piece of the World Wide Web with your friends and family. Thanks for your encouraging comments, and all your “likes” and re-tweets. Not a single one has gone unnoticed. To my farmer friends, chefs and restaurant owners, thank you for making Southeast Georgia the finest place to exist.

I especially thank Julia Child who said, “Find something your passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.” As it turns out, that philosophy has served me well.

  1. Ooo pick me! I like jam!!!
Seriously though, I think my favorite post would have to be the one about your family table. Mostly because I identify with it so much because I, too, have spent so much time and made so many memories at that very table. From birthday celebrations, to your mom’s elaborate seven course breakfasts, to sitting around it and singing and talking about life, to just hanging out, eating dinner before going out on the town for the night (i.e. “pimpin’ the strip” on Washington Rd lol!).
I’m so proud of your accomplishments and I know that the road is only going to continue to rise from here. Happy Blogiversary my sista! Here’s to 50 more!

    1. Soul “sustah,”

I don’t know if you will ever know how much it meant to me to share my Hollywood experience with you. Thank you for being the friend who’s been there for me for 20+ years without fail. I cherish every moment around that family table with you…and every bite of Mama’s “elaborate seven course breakfasts.” LOL! My life is rich because you’re in it. ❤

  2. “A Heavenly Vibe at Huc-A-Poo’s”–that has to be my favorite… And not just because I was part of the story! I think this post captures what we all really love about food–it’s not the food itself, but the part it plays in making nights like this one so memorable. But when the food is really good–and trust me, it was–well now, that’s just the icing on the cake.

I’m also a huge fan of Huc-A-Poo’s, and was beyond thrilled to introduce you to this little hideaway. It’s not the main street, everybody goes, run-of-the-mill tourist joint, and that’s why it is so special to me. It’s the food, the music, the friends, the whole vibe–you get caught up in the smell of the pizza cooking, the clink of glasses, the chatter from the beach bums and billionaires, the unbelievable music… An experience like this touches on every sense, which is why, even a year later, I still remember it so fondly and vibrantly.

This is the stuff memories are made of, and this experience parallels our friendship in so many ways, because it is a friendship that fulfills me in so many ways. So #RunningMate, Teller-Of-Hard-Truths, Go-To Dinner Date, I am so very proud of all of your accomplishments this year, and I am so proud to have been a part of it. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, fun, and Some Kinda Good food!

    Cheers, and many happy returns.

    1. #RunningMate,

Finding a friend like you in my late 20’s is such a rarity. You came into my life at the perfect moment, and we’ve shared some unforgettable and epic times. Our night with “Frankie the Face Eating Freak” and Huc-a-Poos may top them all. Thanks for being my go-to local pal and out-on-the-town gal! I rhymed that just for you 😉

      Love ya #RunningMate, and thanks.

  3. I’m new here – just found you. I wanted to shop at Shopping by Lantern Light and it was rescheduled, so I went to Southern Magnolia’s fb page and found you there. I love food blogs, Southern Magnolia and Braswells! I can’t wait to explore your page and the fact that your local is even more neat – I just moved to Statesboro and am having a blast with all the Farmers Market and local events!

  4. Happy Blog-iversary Becky Sue! You know me, I’m a sucker for sentiment. So, my favorite blog post is your homage to the family table, but there’s a lot of good stuff here on Somekindagood. I am so incredibly proud of all you have accomplished. It’s just a shame that many of your readers have never had the honor of sitting down to a spread with you to watch–and listen–to your sheer enjoyment of a meal coupled with good friends.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Billy!! You’re my favorite wordsmith and one of the reasons I count my blog a success. Sitting down to those meals with my Floyd Family are some of my fondest memories. I will never stop laughing about the cinnamon butter on that fateful day at the Santa Fe table. Thank you, indefinitely.

  6. Happy BD. I plagiarized stuff from your blog…so, sue me.

No, on second thought…please don’t. The Oracle has no money. Everything we have goes to food, and if you saw us you would know I ain’t a-lyin’. If you sue us we will starve and the Oracle will go into receivership, litigation, forced to plead insanity, and the list goes on.

    Congratulations Rebekah.

  7. What an amazing journey you’ve had! 2013 has definitely been an exciting year for you and SKG! One of my personal blog favorites was your post and restaurant review of The Watershed in Atlanta. Anytime I travel I love to find unique places to dine. You ALWAYS highlight such culinary gems. As a fan of brunch, I can’t wait to check out The Watershed and it’s amazing menu…and of course a Bloody Mary! Keep up the good work, Ms. Faulk! Can’t wait to see your work go national when you hit it big! I smell an empire!
