Festive Fourth of July Favorites

Happy Independence Day! Over the years, I’ve baked many a festive treat to celebrate the Fourth of July, and I thought I’d share a few of my favorites. These baked goods are fun to create and will add a celebratory spirit to any table, tailgate party or firework fiesta.

There are many variations of the All-American Flag Cake. I recommend starting with a boxed cake mix, the flavor of your choice. Bake the cake according to package directions in a 9 x13 dish. Then top it with light whipped cream and design the top with fresh berries. Keep it simple! You can make it as decadent or as light as you like.

It doesn’t get much easier than this. I’ve made the Star-Spangled Fruit Tart Recipe year after year. Purchase a tube of sugar cookie dough, an 8 oz. package of cream cheese and fresh raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. Be sure you have sugar and vanilla extract on hand. It takes less than 30 minutes to assemble. You’ll need a round baking dish. The sweet, buttery crunch of the crust with the fruity, cold topping is hard to beat!

I had a lot of fun with this Star-Studded Blueberry Pie Recipe. You’ll need to make the pie crust from scratch so you’ll have extra for cutting out the stars. Fill the crust with fresh or frozen blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, salt and butter. With a star-shaped cookie cutter, the possibilities are endless for festive dishes!

Though this cheesecake lacks the color red, it’s decadent flavor makes up for any loss. You could always toss some raspberries on top to make it more Fourth of July friendly. The walnut crust is out-of-this-world y’all! It’s the best Blueberry Cheesecake Recipe I’ve ever tasted.

Tell me about your favorites! What are you cooking up this Independence Day? How does your family celebrate?

Thank you to all those currently serving in the United States of America Military and the veterans who’ve fought for our freedom in the great U-S-of-A. I’m blessed everyday because of your sacrifice. Eat well.
